Apple makes hardware video decoding available to developers
In 10.6.3, Apple has now made a new “Video Decode Acceleration Framework” available. Â What does that mean? Â Adobe’s number one reason why Flash on the Macintosh is so slow in comparison to Flash on Windows… Â Has been shattered.
Adobe has always blamed the lack of access to the hardware acceleration for the high CPU demands of the Macintosh version of flash. Â Adobe has officially said “We will be enabling support for hardware accelerated video decoding for Flash Player on the Mac”.
