Johnny Depp?  As The Doctor?  TOR.Com is reporting a rumor that Johnny Depp will be staring as the TimeLord of note, assuming that everything works, within the next few years…

What’s my view?

Johnny Depp’s characters are typically too eccentric to be The Doctor…  And he would have to reign in his stereotypical characters to be a good Doctor….  Also, where would he fit in the TimeLine?  A brand new Doctor?  A New series completely?

I just don’t see Johnny as good Doctor Who material.  Now it’s possible, but I just don’t see what he would be bringing to the role, other than “eccentric”.  Johnny’s characters are usually one trick ponies, with that being highly “eccentric”.  Yes, he can emote, but I don’t think he can sustain the seriousness of the role….

I would almost say that I would welcome Nicholas Cage instead….
