I still remember the time we almost couldn’t perform our supercooled matter/magnetic levitation experiment because some grad students had used all the liquid helium to make ice cream. Luckily we could find another tube. Which we then used to make ice cream with, after the experiment.

EDIT: Or the time we were taking a course in several applied areas at once. One was radiation safety, during which the lecturer tells us (we were a group of about seven) that the weather is nice so we might as well sit outside in the sun. Which we do. And then he proceeds to tell us that a good way to protect yourself from radiation sickness is to ingest antioxidants. And one of the prime sources of antioxidants is red wine. Which he then hands out.

Yes, our radiation safety course ended up with us sitting in the grass in the spring sun, drinking wine and talking about radiation safety. Best. Course. Ever.)
